The camera club sponsored a field trip to a place called White Pockets, which is part of the Vermillion Cliffs area of northern Arizona. Very few places on earth look like these fantastic rock formations with an area of about a square mile. An outfitter provided tents, cots, and dinner and breakfast for the one night camp out. This was an intense 24 hours of photography which featured an afternoon, a sunset, moon light, and sunrise. The area is characterized by “petrified” sandstone which are red, yellow, and orange in color. The other white colored rocks we call “brain rocks” because of the indentations and the cracking patterns.
That first photo, wow!
