Day 5 – Santorini – Oia, Imerovigli, Fira
Oia, Imerovigli, Fira
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Early morning was pretty well socked in with clouds – so no spectacular sunrise. Colors in the morning was rather muted. We decided to take the bus to Imerovigli and walk on the path halfway down the cliff to Fira. This walk was great for taking lots of images of scenics and also some details. We had a great view for lunch of crepes and could see all the way back to Oia on the tip of Santorini. The villas on the sides of the steep volcanic walls are really a sight to behold. Many churches – most with blue domes, are very numerous all over the island. The Fira shopping district was very crowded as there were three cruise ships in port. There are three modes of travel from the cruise ships – walk, ride a donkey, or take the aerial tram. In the afternoon we were back to our villa in Oia for a short rest. Then we took a late afternoon walk through Oia for shopping, watching the sunset, and finally dinner.
