Willow Springs and Bulldog Canyons, Arizona

January 22, 2014

The four wheel drive today started a little east of Apache Junction,  AZ on the Apache Trail.  Both trails required permits and the combination to locked gates. We travelled first down Willow Springs Canyon which was the more picturesque of the two canyons.  There were good stands of Saguaro Cactus and rock formations.  The best part of the morning is that we had spectacular cloud formations which led to great photo opportunities.  We had to backtrack in Willow Springs Canyon after we hit a dead end.  Bulldog Canyon trail was pretty much unremarkable desert terrain and by then there were no clouds.  We ended up on the road to Saguaro Lake where we had an early dinner at the marina restaurant.  Finally we waited about an hour for the sunset over the lake.

  1. Hi Charles,

Those cloud formations looked like paintings.  I have never seen anything like them.  Talk about being at the right place at the right time.  You sure captured their beauty.  Thanks for sharing.
