February13: Four Wheel Drive Trip
We travelled west and north of Phoenix, AZ through Wickenburg and north on Rt. 93. The first stop was the town site of Nothing, AZ (population 4). Nothing was founded in 1977 as a gas station and general store, abandoned in 2005, briefly revived in 2008, and now abandoned again. We made a loop to the east of the road along the Big Sandy River with views of the Bagdad Copper mine in the distance at several places. In the afternoon we travelled west of the highway along Burros Creek and Canyon. In the late afternoon we were again off road to the west.
Absolutely beautiful photography. Those blue skies are breathtaking as is the desert landscaping and the contrast of the two.
These photos are excellent. The pic of the rugged upthrust mountains at Burro creek really caught ny eye.
Yes Jim, most of the country out there is pretty rugged. Even though I am a little bit of an amateur geologist, I do not always recognize some of the formations.
