Chihuly Glass in the Desert Botanical Garden

December 10, 2013

Chihuly Glass returned to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ  Nov. 11, 2013 to May 11, 2014.  This is a world class artist and exhibit as Chihuly’s work has been exhibited in cities around the world.  My first visit to the Chihuly glass was at night in December when they also have the Luminarias.  The exhibit features many large exhibits with hundreds of individual hand blown pieces.  The exhibit is quite different from the one about five years ago which featured smaller installations.  We will be visiting several times during the spring to take out of town guests to the exhibit.  To really see the intricate works you need to visit in both the day time and at night.  My favorite piece was the boat in the marsh with the glass icebergs.  All of the photos were taken using a tripod and then using multiple exposures combined on the computer to get a good all around exposure.

A recent permanent museum “Chihuly Garden and Glass” opened this last year in Seattle, WA, home to his workshop.

  1. Thanks. Now I don’t have to go to the DBG this time. Your colorful photos captured it so well! I saw an hour show on Chihuly on PBS recently. It was new and very interesting.
